2. The social climate... Censorship

I was going to blog about Abortion, but I'll leave that one for later......

Censorship is a big one for me, I really don't understand how people can be so sensitive that they are offended by Dale Ernhardt saying "it don't mean shit", I mean puh...lease, OMG he said Shit, who the hell cares? I do not know a single person who was offended by that, yet in this charged social environment he is fined $10,000 and docked 25 points, and lord knows what the FCC will hand out, so now we have a 5 second delay so they can dump 'offensive' language, well I guess the morality of you average NASCAR fan (me included) will be better protected from future obsenities.... I wonder if they will use the delay to edit out the crashes? I mean if the kids are to be protected from swear words perhaps they should not watch the violence either.

Strangely if he had said "It don't mean crap" that would have been OK, cause we can say Crap but not Shit...... Why? they are both expletives, they both refer to the same thing and are used in the same way. Ironically where I come from (England) Crap is considered the more offensive term, at least it was by my family and friends. And I guess that is the problem with censorship, Who decides what should be censored and what should not.... as Mr David Lee Roth once said, "What if I were the one doing the censorship?"
