Pope nears death
Spokesman Joaquin Navarro-Valls choked up with tears as he told reporters about the pope's worsening condition. He said the 84-year-old pontiff had been "informed of the gravity of his situation" and rather than be hospitalized, he decided to stay in his apartment overlooking St. Peter's Square, where thousands of pilgrims gathered to pray for him.
What? The pope is refusing hospitalization and potential life extending treatment? Where are the activists now, obviously this man is being held against his will from the treatment that is his right. Joaquin Navarro-Valls is obviously trying to cover up the fact that he has abused the pope in the past and wants to hide the evidence……. Do you start to see the idiocy of the past 13 days? Where are the jugglers, the horn players the rabid monks? Tom DeLay? Jessie Jackson? I wonder how long Dubya will wait before expressing the nation’s "grief" once the pope kicks the bucket?

DUBLIN (Reuters) - Pope John Paul signaled he is ready to die by choosing not to return to hospital, his former private secretary said on Friday.
Hypocrite.
The difference here is that we know what the Pope's intentions are. With the Schiavo situation, there was doubt. This is why I made the original plea to people to have a living will and medical power of attorney. Had Terri had these, there would not have been a media circus, protests, etc. I've talked to both sides of the issue. The underlying argument that I perceived on those who wanted to keep her alive was that we didn't know for sure what she wanted because of the doubt that was brought up. When a person's intention is unquestionably presented, there is no problem. Afterall, it happens everyday.
I knew someone was going to go there. It's not the same thing. Terri wasn't dying. Her organs weren't failing, she did not have Parkinson's, and all she needed was a feeding tube. The pope still has a feeding tube. He isn't dehydrating to death. His organs are shutting down naturally, not because no one will give him nutrition or hydration. His death is not being accelerated, Terri's was.
The differences in these situations are vast.
Terri Schiavo left no directive. The courts decided to take the word of a compromised husband. What very possibly happened is that Terri didn't want to die and we killed her anyway. That would have been the worst possible outcome, and that judge took no precautions to see that it didn't happen.
The distinct possibility that we put do death an innocent woman who had no wish to die, is one that is terrifying to me.
I don't have time to give this issue the attention it deserves, my Computer at home crapped out and I can only access the web now at work, so I am going to limit myself to flippent one liners, mostly of other peoples blogs. Obviously you two crackpots are just blinded totally to the irony of the pope saying one day "life needs to be preserved and prolonged no matter what" and then refusing hospitilization that would do just that the next. Whatever, I really could give two fucking hoots about the pope, who in my opinion is a vile creature.
Hey, I'm stuck with the same damn problem. I should be getting my laptop back today though. Anyways, since I'm not Catholic, this much was explained to me. The Catholics believe that life should be preserved no matter what as long as the body is able to maintain itself with whatever help is available. If life is still failing despite all means necessary (as in the pope's case) then death is quickly imminent. If the Pope chose hospitalization, it would have made no difference since his organs were failing despite feeding tubes, etc.
Fuck that. Just called Comp USA. They don't have my fucking laptop back yet. FUCK!
Can you please talk to my wife? She is on my case because I built my PC myself so that I don't have the compusa support. I have figured out whats wrong on my machine, I got the HAXDOR trojan, which is a real pain in the ass to get rid of.
What a coincidence, I built the desktop that my wife uses. It crashed a couple of times but now should be fine since I had to wipe out everything on the hard drive, start over, and installed updated protection.
Tell your wife this: Most problems are simple enough to solve on your own. I knew what the problem to my laptop was but just didn't have time to do it myself. I was without it for far too long. If I had done it myself, it would have voided the warranty. (My warranty covers if I break the laptop myself.)
My machine comes without waranties or guarentees, but as such is just a wee bit cheaper, I built it for $300. $300 was a good thing last year, not so hot right now!
