Vacation time

Well I have 7 days left until I set out on the old family vacation trail. We are off to New Mexico to visit with the in-laws, I am very much looking forward to the trip, I really need a couple of weeks off. My main issue is that I might well have a few more weeks after off too. See my contract is up "Mid September" I’m glad that mid September wasn’t last week, but I cant see there being a job for me when I get home after 2 weeks in NM. So it is possible I only have 5 more working days left for the foreseeable future, but I am not going to let that spoil my vacation. We have lots planned, some trips to see the sights, the balloon festival, thousands of Texans fleeing Rita, but most of all some well deserved rest and recuperation.

Thought for the day:-

I was thinking the other day, "Am I a rich man? I’m not particularly fiscally advantaged, I don’t have vast savings stored up for rainy days (or prolonged unemployment!) I don’t have lavish possessions either, but for some reason I have always considered my life to be so much richer than most of the others that busy themselves in and out of my daily schedule. The source of this wealth ? My family. I have a beautiful, devoted and loving wife, who in turn I am totally devoted and love more deeply than I ever thought possible. I have 4 wonderful daughters, each different but each filled with the warmth and comfort of loving parents, each in turn enriches my life to a degree not achievable with mere money or material possessions. Even though two of my daughters no longer live with us, I still cherish the phone calls and visits and revel at their achievements and despair at their sorrow. My wife works part time, not because we can afford it, but because we feel it is more important that our children come home to one of us rather than an empty house of a daycare. Each night we eat together as a family, each night I sing and read to my kids and each morning we wake with them snuggled up in our bed. Beyond my immediate family I am also lucky to have a marvelous group of parents, siblings, grandparents, nephews, uncles, aunts, cousins and close friends who also serve to provide unquestioned support and such kindness that truly bestows a warmth in my household that could withstand any storm and that makes me the richest man on earth.

Wow that was slushy, I must be starting my period.

Hey guy! Nice post on family values, sounds like you have a really sweet family!! Good for you!

I read back a number of posts, the Ozzy/Iron Maiden one made me laugh out loud. Sharon Osbourne tries to act like a sweet and innocent little homemaker on her show but you can see the mean vindictive bitch just below the surface without too much trouble hahaha!

I had a couple of narrow brushes with the IRA myself, I was in one of the Birmingham pubs in the mid 70's, the night before it was bombed. We almost went back again the night of the bombing! I can't recall what changed our mind now though, but I remember it was very scary! There was another somewhat close call where I had walked thru a terminal at Heathrow just 2 hours before it was blown all to hell. I had just flown in from Amsterdam and I checked into a hotel in St. John's and turned the TV on and saw that very terminal had just blown up!! Freeky!!!

by the way, I linked your blog on my sidebar months ago! LOL Thanks for the linkage!
